Dermal fillers

For deeper lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers are a popular treatment choice.

Working at a deep dermal level to delay the signs of ageing, this simple procedure is designed to ‘fill out’ and smooth away wrinkles in troublesome areas:

What are dermal fillers?

The primary ingredient of dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid, a natural component of skin. A natural sugar found in your body, hyaluronic acid commonly occurs in skin, joints and in the eyes. The role of hyaluronic acid in skin is to hydrate the skin (by attracting and binding to water molecules), to act as a cushioning agent and also to deliver nutrients.

What do they do?

Dermal fillers offer a safe and natural way of restoring volume and fullness to refresh and revitalise your looks by supporting the skin’s natural structure.

What happens during treatment?

Fillers are injected just below the skin using very fine needles. Most patients choose not to have anaesthesia as the discomfort is minimal. A mild anaesthetic cream or dental injection can be used for advanced treatments.

How long will it take to perform?

Depending on the type of dermal fillers you have, treatment can take around 30 minutes.

When will I begin to notice the effects?

The results of your dermal filler treatment can be seen immediately.

How long do results last?

Typically the results of a dermal filler treatment can last from 6 to 9 months, but this varies from one person to another. The dermal filler is gradually broken down and naturally absorbed by the body so lines, wrinkles or lips will ultimately return to their previous appearance if no further top up treatments are sought.

Are they safe?

Dermal fillers are extremely safe. They have been used for over 40 years and are considered to be so biocompatible that they don't require a skin test before use.

Are there any side effects?

There is a very small possibility of allergic reaction, which will be discussed with you when you visit the clinic for a consultation. You can expect some degree of swelling and redness after the treatment, which usually normalises within 1 - 2 days.
